View from a new hideout

 I am getting excited with the arrival of the Tiong birds at the park.  For one thing it is a sure proof that the park is showing results as a sanctuary for birds.  This has been achieved not one year but over many years of planning and development.  The preservation of its habitat especially tall perches are critical for the survival of the species.  The tall dead tree must remain standing for in its trunk is a hole which the Tiongs call home. Other nearby perches are important for temporary rest and lookout points before they return to the safety of their nest.  Around 5.30 pm or the latest 6 pm, they would return from their daily hunt or foraging expeditions to rest for the night at the hole.  Today in order to come closer to the birds, I created another jungle track at the Licuala Hill leading to the tree.   From the new hideout (see inset) I can take better aim of the birds unnoticed under cover of small trees and bracken ferns.  Here are more pictures from today's photoshoot session.

A Photoshoot session - Spiderhunter at Sexy Pink

Little Spiderhunter at the Heliconia 'Sexy Pink'

 One of the most rewarding birding look-out point at the park is the Heliconia point.  At most times of the day the place is visited by many small birds like the Little Spiderhunter, Brown-throated Sunbird and the Eastern Crimson Sunbird due to the presence of many varieties of heliconia plants and yellow ixora shrub there.  Today the Little Spiderhunter was seen in a happy mood getting her job done.  It was busy getting deep into the bottom of the flower base to have a sip of the nectar.  The pendulous flower stalk is red and the pink bracts that cover the real flower are sometimes called 'false flowers'.

 Something moved by the Japanese bamboo.  It was a little green creature.  Rushing to get my camera, I hoped it would still be there for me to photoshoot it.  Yes! the Little Green Dinosaur was a pleasing capture.  It seemed to be curious of me.  Why this human creature is so trigger-happy about me?  Is it my ancient crown that I wear for many million of years?  Or my sexy long legs?  My big black round eyes? Scaly skin that is jungle green? Or my steady moves?...Here's my poses....
