Sunset from Deer Hill

 After clearing some bushes and treelets at the highest point of Zone C, i.e. at Deer Hill, I noticed a spectacular view of the sunset can be observed there.  Looking towards the western horizon, the varying colours of the sunset looked expansive and overwhelming.   Of course, previously I would view the sunset from Licuala Hill.  The view from Deer Hill is equally awesome.  Below are more pictures that I took a couple of days ago.

Sunset from the Abag

The Abag in Bintulu Melanau means verandah.  It is the place where we carryout many home or domestic chores but is also a place for recreation, especially passive recreation.  It is a relaxing place to enjoy the Bintulu sunset especially its varying colours against the oil palm and jungle tree leaves.  For more Bintulu sunsets close to the beach areas in Bintulu pleased follow the link here

A day of beautiful nature

 It has been a fulfilling day.  Time spent with the natural and feathered species.  Among the dead leaves on the forest floor a skink was seen skirting fast.  It looked curiously beautiful.  As the day progresses many small birds sneaked out of their jungle hideout to welcome a fine day with their cheerful calls.  Today's list consisted of the Pied Fantail (Sambar  Murai Gila - Malay), Orange-bellied Flowerpecker, Crimson Sunbird, Little Spiderhunter and finally the talkative whistler of a bird - the Hill Myna or Tiong in Malay.  The Tiongs were seen perching high at sunset time and only returned to their hole in the tree after 6.30 pm.  The Bintulu sunset continues to entice a happy heart with its majesty and promise of another day....God willing.

 I was hoping the Tiongs would show up by  their favourite tree this afternoon.  They didn't, even at sunset time.  The Sunset point is a birdwatching location situated on a tall hill at Zone I.  Previous sightings here included the Blue-throated Bee-eaters, Dollar bird, Brown-throated Sunbird, Hill Myna, Little Green Pigeons and the Black Hornbill.  This is also the best location to see the Bintulu sunset from the park.  Here's today's views....

There is a shady place, cool and peaceful at Provinsi Lady Palm which I call "Sawit Groove".  Shade is generously provided by the oil palm trees (Sawit - Malay) and other trees like Jackfruit, Durian, Ceylon Ironwood, Pong-Pong  and the Lumok trees.  Many times a day I would walk through the area to enjoy peaceful moments with nature.  It is located just a few yards behind my chalet.   It is also one of my favourite places to see the Bintulu sunset, besides two others that is the Cempedak Hill and the highest point at Licuala trail ( Zone I).  Today's sunset was majestic and reminds me of the colours of one of the flowers at the park called 'Jarum tujuh'( Pereskio bleo)in Malay.  Among the Berawans traditional medicine practitioners of Sarawak the leaves of this plant are boiled and when cooled is drunk as a prescription for curing cancer of the heart.  I guess I'll have  to put up more interesting furniture to the area, to make the place even more groovy like a simple shelter with stools or benches and tables.  That would be my next project for the Sawit Groove.   To see more sunset views from the park, check it out in my blog here .....>>>http://mybintuluclicks.blogspot.com/search/label/Sunset
